Why?

Why?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We tend to be so predictable as a species. Predatory to the core. Yet here and there I see hope of evolution taking a kinder approach. Lets Hope before we kill us all.

"

If I could only see the truth

to look beyond our simple ways

I would love knowledge even more

than all the lies of long gone days

If man could put away his sword

and beat to plowshares all he'd worn

Then I might be able to see the light

and forget the failings, of those I scorn

If we were not such fragile beings

that prayed for things not needed

Then I might think we had a chance

but all the lessons still go unheeded

If life would only start as it ends

with great knowledge left to share

We might not trample each other

then sin to hide what we must bear

If life could only do all these things

I would live deep in the truth so wise

To take the life, that I've been given

and turn to God with forgiving eyes

I think we are of one Spirit my friend...we love...and that is our calling and our creed. We are misunderstood...we are called weak...presumed naive...when our strength and wisdom is the very thing others fail to find an empathy for...and it saddens us. But we have no fear, knowing that love which resides within us is greater than the evil which abides in the world. Keep fighting the good fight. Wonderful write.

Beautifully crafted poem. I found it incredibly beautiful and profoundly true. I see hope in the eyes of my students. They are so strong and so smart so willing to be good people and change the world for the better. Look into the eyes of children and hope for the future. Your poem was incredibly Beautiful and very thought provoking.

Hope is possible, unless we strive to not care and continue to be callous and cruel.
Lets Hope before we kill us all-Was a powerful ending..

Thank you Len Time is the healer but the memory remains
In 1961, when the assassination of John F Kennedy took place, India was very new to Independence which she got in 1947. Media was not that rapid and advance in our country and India was also suffering from acute and serious crisis and pandemonium at that time, but still in here his assassination was a matter of discussion, this is what my fore father told me.

A great poem here again. I need not say anything because of 103 reviews that you already have got.

Apart from the structure of poem, what I always praise is the lessons of life that you embed in it.

I accord with Timthy, that man does not need any enemy, as there are too many dwelling in the humanoid form. As the William Wordsworth lines goes "What man has made of a man?"

Thanks for sharing this poetry, which I consider a masterpiece.

You're most welcome buddy!
I cannot believe the dynamics of this poem...as always, written in Tate style, which i believe is the pinnacle of excellence...it is an exacting depiction of the human condition and its innate desire to eliminate anything that is relevant and pure...we are dinosaurs...the only difference is that we are destroying our existence much faster than they did. Great job , and the accompanying audio was not only perfect, but also very thought provoking!!
