Memory

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What need have I for coins of Gold

"

Daughter Aris and I

The world has riches oh so rare

but shares them only with a few

What I love is worth so much more

         they are recollections of you

I need so few of this world's goods

having all your thoughts, ways and deeds

They lift my soul to the heavens

where I plant love's garden of seeds

Through your eyes I have seen wonders

so numerous I can't count

But oh such beauty none the less

before God I could not recount

What need have I for coins of gold

they can't buy what my eyes can see

My treasures lie within your smiles

stamped in the mint of memory

Dear Lord, this was so beautiful I swear it touched my soul. Every line is like a burst of overwhelming beauty the not only encourages but pushes and tugs at the reader to read on and crave more. Honestly, I was breathless by the end of it, my eyes were absorbed by each word as was the rest of being, reading this was an experience I wouldn't mind having a few hundred times more. Thank you for sharing.

1st things 1st Tate...I love this song...when the ship comes in....touch of Dylan, Donovan, Paxton, Rush, and Arlo...
and reading this beautiful write with the song as a background made it even more emotional for me....I don't know if you wrote it to the melody....but words can't begin to describe the way I feel after reading this.
Stunningly wonderful, no matter who it's about...the fact it's about your children makes it even more poignant...
and heartfelt...
Saved as my favorite....because it is
Well done, Tate

Aren't they though? I love my children so much and I thank God for them all the time. I do not only love them and treasure them as well, but I am also so very proud of them.

Extremely sweet. It feels so personal, it seems like I'm almost invading your privacy. Even so, this really private and emotional poem is so easy to relate with, and so touching though I may not personally know those lucky children of yours. You're really a very good poet, and so much more.

Keep Writing. ^___^
