Poetic Life

Poetic Life

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

It isn't how fast you can run.

"

As a child must learn to walk

before he attempts to run

So a poet owns the dark

long before he knows the sun

There's a shared fact to our lives

we poets all come to know

The quiet still of the cool night

that gives strength to mornings glow

It is just the way of things

that make us seem so far apart

To miss the heat or the cold

but touch workings of the heart

For whatever  the reason

we are here to make a choice

You see a child crying out

then have to give him a voice

Perhaps it's our fated lives

to give song to the cold din

But life’s a race we all share

and who cares if we don't win

It isn't how fast you run

nor how elegant you look

Think of those who took the time

to leave a mark in life’s book

I love this piece. it's so true and is very deep. My favorite lines were:
"Others can't always seem to know.
The pain of the life so free.
But my gifts hope they'll understand.
What life's waves wash over me."

I believe that writing makes a person spiritual in some form or another because we let go of everything and bear it all for everyone to see. This is so beautiful.

Loved this! Very well put about a poet's way of participating in this world. I particularly liked your lines, "It's the way we feel of things/ that make us feel so far apart" I think this poem not only will touch its readers, but it will also really be felt and understood quite well by writers. You express in a great way the importance of just giving of yourself to help and not for reward.

This is so lovely ..
As a child learns to walk before he runs..poets walk the dark before they run in the sun
the cool night gives strength to the mornings glow, whatever is the reason we are here to make a choice
Its our fated life to give a song to a quiet din, life is a race we share but who cares who wins
its not how fast we run or how elegant we look, but take a time to know how to leave a mark on all life
that was really great..how I loved what you said here..so dreamy so poetic
lovely write..

A poet's thoughts written in such a beautiful way and, so full of truths :

'The quiet still of the cool night. That gives strength to mornings glow.' ~ and ~ 'Perhaps it's our fated lives. ~~ Than give song to the quiet din.'

I don't know if I can claim to be a poet, but understand some of what you're saying here. Maybe we look harder at things around us, maybe we feel more deeply .. but, there's no maybe about HAVING to write about pur close examination and strong, but tender feelings ...

Thank you for sharing

Beautifully, profoundly expressed... the life of the poet is a life of depth... deep bright joys... dark gray sorrows... It is this sense of emotion that colors the vibrant words you have created here.
