Not Forgotten

Not Forgotten

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I remember the dark door where we hid from all the rain A dry respite from the storm safe in arms I'd felt no pain

"

I thought I had forgotten

what with spring came back to me

Words un-uttered thoughts we stirred

of the way things use to be

I remember the dark door

where we hid from all the rain

A dry respite from the storm

safe in arms I'd felt no pain

I went back to the small doorway

where happily our loves had played

My heart ached for what could have been

if behind that door we had stayed

With wild, spring, rain and thunder

something wondrous comes this way

Your eyes had said more that night

than your lips could ever say

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Sometimes the thoughts of the mind take me back to times that seem like yesterday. However the day has set on those times and the new day risen on better ones.
This is a poem set to a 7 syllable count in the meter. It has a simple A.B.C.B. rhyme scheme. The 2nd line of each quatrain rhymes with the 4th.

I don't normally enjoy reaing this style of work. BUT as I always say its the content of a piece that matters not how that content is created. This was so bitter sweet.....plus it made me think of someone I don't want to forget. And when you can do that, you know you're a writer. =)

Oh my god, my heart rends reading this. Beautiful flow of a forlorn thought. So painful to desire a wind that has already passed you by. Lovely, my dear.

This is very very beautiful and passionate...I closed my eyes and could actually see myself standing in a run down shed with a black door alongside the man I loved, while rain dribbled down the shutters and walls, some splattering on our skin. I mean, it evoked so much inside me...I really really loved it! It actually gave me inspiration(lol not to write something like this, I won't steal your idea :))...Eh, I seem to have lost inspiration lately though. :(

This has so much pain and longing for a life regrettably unlived. The tragic sadness of happy memories is conveyed with such tenderness and love. Memories that we'd do better not to recall, for the sake of our fragile souls. Your work is excellent. Everything I've read so far carries so much sensitivity and humanity that sometimes it's hard to bear...

This was so beautifully sad. The essence of sadness accompanied with loneliness has been described at its best.
Loved it!
