Regrets

Regrets

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

In the later years on looking back On the winding road that I tread It disturbs this mans waking mind To think of follies I then fed

"

Grandpa Ed and My father Eddie Morgan Jr

Though time eases my thoughts passing

and dulls the raking pain of years

It never really cleans the slate

nor wipes away the stain of tears

I look back upon my lost days

there find mans never ending plea

To right the wrongs of my past

that weigh so heavily on me

In the later years on looking back

from the winding road that I tread

It disturbs this mans waking mind

to think of follies I once fed

Don't weigh on your life foolishly

or the lesson you may just find

He who feared you shared his weakness

was more loving than he was kind

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Strange it is to find out too late. That the ones we love, loved us as well. And in looking at us saw themselves. When I was young everyone over 30 was an idiot. The older I got. The smarter they seemed. And the more foolish I felt. The one thing my father said to me that I never forgot was this."Son my father never gave up on me I won't give up on you."
Thank you Dad
Tate

ohh my friend ,i really dont hate that winding road..i put something like that on my avatar..i meant it
you should not be sorry for the follies you fed..at the time it was the best thing fit your mind could work out
lucky for me i got wise at early age..still off course there were much to regret
i always thought old age was age of the wise and i tried to play it well
through weaknesses and strengths i took my steps so careful
i dont think i would unwind those roads for really its not that nice what i would see
i think i ve seen the best of it all..there are regrets but not of me
there are regrets and bitterness of others who just could not see
even if they lived longer than that very old oak tree
lovely write..

Sometimes, in an effort to avoid past errors, we might just end up making those same mistakes, but in a different ways... Looking back at your past always brings back memories you sometimes would not want to try remembering... it feels strange and quite scary sometimes when our parents leave us to grow up on our own but sometimes, it is the best else you would not have made some mistakes and learn some things the hard way. i believe some of those mistakes you made have taught you to be the best father you can be to your kids. Good write Tate! I enjoyed every bit of your write. :)

A fantastic tribute, I guess to your own 'Father' oh' and how true your words here are and strangely enough particularly for me here today (it is Fathers Day here too in England) and regrettably only five days away from the first anniversary of my own dear Father moving on "hopefully to a better place"

I also agree entirely with your introductory authors note & by the way Cat Stevens 'Father & Son' tends to make me cry whenever I hear it, but perhaps understandably, even more so today.

All Good Things,

looking back is always so heavy specially if its still the same pain that never weathered... getting older makes you wiser, a better man than before...

i like the wisdom on this, yes... never take life as an easy thought.... we must do what we thought is just right...not too little and not too over the top....

our life is a cycle... what was before may comeback the same but in a different way in percieving the situation...

this poem talks a very strong compassion....
great work!

Lovely work Tate. It's hard when we have regrets, but I guess when we learn from them it's all that matters.

thank you
When we are young we are not so aware of conscience, unless we are given a good foundation and are taught respect then often we become a bit unruly. All we can do in retrospect is to learn from it.. not dwell on it because then it eats us up and brings us down...

Yea the older i get the more i9 trust my own version of events and priorities
We waste so much energy on regret. Eventually we realize that those before us often did the best they could, and we in turn can only do the same. A thoughtful and well constructed piece, Tate.

How looking back across our days leaves us too often haunted... seeing decisions that cut into our hearts and minds... Regrets... how horrid that we can undo nothing we have ever done.

Tate, I think most of us can look back at their lives and say the same thing..So many times as we grow and learn..we turn WRONG instead of RIGHT..the thing is..you are one taht can see that in yourself..not many can or do..Greaat piece of work..love Katihe

There is no way of going back. Perhaps the foolish things we did, the wrongs we committed, were meant to be. And there is no way of knowing that either.
