Many men are at times misled

as most could be thought of as blind

Measuring by what they won't do

instead of to whom they were kind

Attempting to build an empire

judging themselves by what they deny

Thinking them best who resist temptation

be it a crime for a man to cry

No hungered child is a lost soul

nor a beggar be taught how to live

By preaching morals to the poor

we take from whom we should give

Goodness is not what we won't do

nor a question of who we exclude

It is an unselfish act of Humanity

to see ourselves in those we include

Five stanzas of near perfect poetry. Each stanza is a self-contained lesson (parable) and they are tied together by the title and pictures. The styles of individual lines are consistently interesting (stilted language in some ways, archaic in other ways, but all working together for the overall effect of the theme). And, a good theme - God's work (if you think God needs an apostrophe to help His work, check line 16. Great work on this one.

That's why people often blame the needy for their problems rather than sympathize with and help them. My first comment had a typo, I've realized. "It's easier to blame..." was what I meant to say.

That is also why the poor more often give more than the rich in relationship to what they can afford.Because they shared the pain.

Thank you for putting this one on Tatte..I know in my neighborhood..older people in wheel chairs..that I carry down hot food to and call just to see if they are all right..and offer help when I can..wHY DO i DO IT? oNE DAY IT MAY BE ME IN THOSE SAME SHOES..AND i PRAY A KIND SOUL WILL REACH OUT TO ME..kATHIE

I gave a large television to my church tonight and i forgot How heavy they are I bout killed myself taking it over there lol I have a 17 yr old who could easilly have done it But funny thing the TV that replaced it is about an inch thick and I can lift it with one hand lol Man my kid must think Im from the flintstones lol

It never hurts for us to do something nice for others..and not expect anything in return..I am also a vid book reader..and I give books away 50 at a time after I have read them..also give to the battered womans shelter..

those people who are in need are ones that are invisible to us. when we walk by them we don't help and we are in denial of how guilty we really feel. it really sucks to be homeless. i could relate.

A wonder way of reminding us the art and act of giving to others and not for benefit to ourselves. I have many times over given to others not asking in return. The reward is intrinsic . Beautiful Poem Tate!

i used to, until i became homeless for 16 months and then got my life back. now i am always helping those less fortunate than myself, whenever i can. this is a superb piece of writing .

You know there is a reason porr people give more of themselves and their goods to others .They have shared the misery of poverty. I have seen things like a woman falling on ice and people just walk on by It says little for our character as a nation .personally i see it most in the cities the more crowded the worse they are. We have over populated and need to cut back . There are too many of us

First, how much I have missed your verses.
From this, and especially from the third stanza, I thought of what those hungered children and poor could teach us; the reasons why they are placed where they have been, the humility they wear day after day. Not only could we help them, but they could teach us much as well. Wonderful rhymes per usual. Great write.
