Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows?

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

_____________________________

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

This is a fine write; much good advice from life experience. Love the photos!! They reminded me of my visits to The Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, OH. Went over there for a few reasons... a couple times to view the glass art of The Chihuly Collection; walking thru the Consevatory viewing his art work is quite an experience; good to take one's time so you don't miss a piece that might be hard to "discover" amongst the plant life. The Conservatory also has an incredible Butterfly House; where the public can walk thru to view the butterflies in their habitat; all visitors are asked to check one-another for butterflies that might have landed upon their clothing or heads before exiting so the butterflies won't be displaced from their environment since Ohio's weather isn't always in fine form for them survive.

A beautiful poem. I was thankful for two Grandmother's who insure me and my sister had the basic needs. Your poem is beautiful and we need to be thankful to be in the light of a woman love. A outstanding poem.
