Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows?

My Mother Marquita

35 yrs old

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

You like taking your readers on journeys. This time was more of a soul searching, finding that lost part to make us whole. I may be looking at this completely wrong, bt the journey finds us looking at our life's beginning, and there's nothing strong than a mother's love in a borough or a burrow.

Very beautiful. You've spun a very special poem with your words on this one.

I like this as much as or more than anything else of yours I've read. The flow is superb, the rhyme tight and natural, the 5th stanza is worth framing (the first is no slouch either). Unless you diverging somehow, burrow in line 6 should be borough. I guess Mothers in line 19 could exist without an apostrophe if you're being parsimonious, but have chose should be have chosen a bit later. I'm not sure the switch to 'you' in the last line is meaningful or effective; it's been us/our throughout (except for the 5th stanza where the us is effectively defined as mine and hers). Why switch? Would it be just as effective to say 'don't let life pass us by?' I think it would work well. Really a great effort, Tate.

Wow! I have to say I do like this piece. The second stanza stands out in my head; and shines with the battle cry of the military saying we are protected , while allowing a father loving time to bond and play catch with his son. This is the image I get from this stanza. Throughout this piece is bursting with mindful imagery.

Nice write my friend!

This is the true lesson of life that god had meant for us to live by but we don't listen when we should.
