Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows?

"

My Mother Marquita

35 yrs old

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

_____________________________

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

I think you have enough people singing your praises, much deservedly, so I think I may start reserving comment till I have something constructive to add to the topic, great work as always Tate.

All the love in your soul pours out into each line.... As I take a breath I find that you have soothed my own grief with your own. Just the pure understanding that comes from losing a loved one... It is the emotion BEHIND the words you so brilliantly express. It means so much to those, like me who have experienced this emotion, time, and time again....
Thank you my precious friend.
I am blessed to have ever been given such a person as you to brighten up my life.

You have captured truth and the beauty within life itself with this poem. Beauty is found in each moment of life; from birth as well as within its return to start anew. You capture life so wonderfully Tate. It is a talent to write poetry about "stuff", but a true "gift" when they flawlessly walk you through the roads of life. If you ever stop and look upon your writings all in one day, you will travel down and intricate woven tapestry of life. You are amazing Tate.
