Mother's Love

Mother's Love

A Poem by Tate Morgan

My Mother Marquita

What man fears not mortality

who stands in line to die

To lose the breath we hold so dear

yet for ourselves we cry

The strength of a mighty army

echoes from the boroughs

Combining humanities heart

with love from where it flows

___________________________

The quiet heart of the lonely

begs us all take a chair

Come sit at the table of man

break bread with all found there

She feeds the souls each evening

round fires of brotherhood

Bringing like and not together

as each one knew she would

_____________________________

Where my own is but a lamplight

Illuminating one

Hers the love of a Mothers Heart

burns brilliant as the sun

So precious is the time we share

for whom would you then cry

So sweet the nectar love conceals

don't let life pass you by

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
Can any man say he is not beholding to the spring from which life flows? As in the times of the ancient mariner we all hear the call of sirens that gesture us to sail home. Continuity of purpose flows from the wellspring of our lives. In the end we all find we are drawn inexorably home, to the hearth from around which we told our tales of long ago and spun our yarns of a life well lived. The well spent life will always beckon from the winds of change a call for home.

My favorite passages:
"What man fears not mortality, who stand in line to die?", and
"Come sit at the table of Man; break bread with all found there."
This is another betrayal of the depth of your heart, Tate. I have
read none deeper, no, not even in the Masters. I am very honored
to have come to know you, through this amazing writing.
I would be glad, strictly for comparison's sake, to see the
original, upon which this was based; might that be possible?

M.L. is a soulful and heartfelt poem. A very candid look at living for the day and appreciating where we flow from. I especially loved the 3rd,4th & 5th for it's
sentiment & imagery. The last verse hits home the idea that Carpe diem is
definitely a motto we should all live by.. Thanks!

Excellent.
This is utterly brillant.
I don't really know what to say, except that I am fast becoming slightly jealous with the way you seem to write a great poem with ease. How long does it take you to write such a poem?

Tate this is so beautiful. I especially love
the last verse... I have to remind myself
that just because my time has not come yet
that does not mean life has passed me by.

My sister is the prime example of this. She
finally reunited with her highschool sweetheart
after 40 + years of seperation ... She passed away
last month, but they had almost 4 years of such
constant happiness and bliss... How many people
can say that? I think of how much was lost but I
relish in how much she and her husband had...
more than I ...

Wonderful write... Just simply WONDERFUL
