Why Me?

Why Me?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What have I learned in my trials so far

"

Scout and I

What have I learned in my trials so far

I think all I need know for now

Been broken, tattered and forlorn

then beaten and made to bow

With time our life so gives

then alongside it must take

Carving character as it goes

a better man of us will it make

As I no longer ask the question

God traded me wisdom for truth

Teaching me the meaning of life

in exchange he took my youth

But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

This piece has a remarkable rhythm and flow, really beautiful. And this last line stanza is so great. I am glad we are friends.

Youth is wasted on the young, and wisdom is not for youth...It is natures way...Lovely write, Tate

You started a life from the first stanza and just ended with your powerful words by writing the last stanza. Too many ways're here to see and to understand this poem. Journey of life, walking along the life, moving on the path of life, how we life or pass our time throughout the life ! Like too many questions come in my mind. The concept of writing the poem seemed good. I liked the poem.

life is a journey, and along the roads we take there are obstacles, we grow by facing them and overcoming them sometimes only to find that we fall time after time... but as long as we keep getting up we get further along on our journey to find each time we gained new strength to reach the ultimate goal ... when we get there we realize it was the journey (through life) that was important and the goal.

Hopefully.... trading youth for wisdom is a lesson well learned, a lesson I wish I could have learned when I was young. But that's what life is all about isn't it...Learning?
