Fate

Fate

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

For when could I say that i believed I was such a treasured soul

"

Lucy

Lucy Hamilton

 Princess of Ireland

When could I say that I believed

I was such a treasured soul

To give up the life you've conceived

for a chance at half not whole

Having tasted the nectar of life

who can say they would pass it on

For years full of trouble and strife

filled with all of what was, now gone

Life wasn't meant to cost so much

that you pay for your love in tears

I couldn't bear it to be such

that I cost you unhappy years

Many a night I looked up in awe

to the sweet sky above my head

Longing to be that star you saw

to hear the wistful things you said

So now I lie in wait for dawn

watching the stars all twinkle out

Dreaming of things that were, now gone

we never thought we’d live without

Again, it was absolutely amazing. Like all of your poetry there was a certain ring of music to it. Ever heard a full orchestra? That's what it felt like when reading it. In any case, it was beautiful and amazing yet contemporary. Just one thing:
"I'm here with a pen not with a sword"
I am a firm believer that the pen is mightier than the sword!
Thank you for writing.

Tate this is beautiful and deeply touched my
heart... These two lines are so my life

Life wasn’t meant to cost so much
that you pay for your love in tears

But being the forever dreamer wishing for

Many a night I looked up in awe
to the sweet sky above my head
Longing to be that star you saw

Sugar this was wonderful covering all
the aspects of love...
The Good Bad and the Ugly...
Loved it...
PS
Noticed you made mention of my main guy...
made me smile

Hugs

There is such a lyrical quality to your stuff. Since you set much of it to a musical theme in presentation I have to think that words totally sing through your head. I like this poem because I think the wistfulness that it contains has tremendous depth. It sort of reminds me of those nights you spend staying up all night when you really didn't intend to, just by yourself. And when you look at the stars and try to ponder in all that space between you and they, what exactly is life for. I like the reckoning inside yourself that you suggest here of not wanting to cause any pain and trying to measure, if such a thing can be measured, what the individual blessings we each are given, are worth. Altogether a very insightful, very contemplative read.
