Mankind

Mankind

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Faith may be the timeless healer but lost time it cannot replace And all the calls for Gods mercy won’t give us back that youthful face

"

Tate

Thinking we’re the fountain of youth

we spend life as if it’s money

Casting away dreams as we go

never knowing dark from sunny

The first we waste so endlessly

never thinking to stop and rest

Playing until we fall asleep

living life through memories best

Father time always catches us

no matter how swift we can run

Reminding us of mortality

to see we don’t have too much fun

When we finally wake from youth

to find the years so sadly gone

We wish they had been spent better

not worrying about our lawn

Faith may be the timeless healer

but lost time it cannot replace

And all the calls for Gods mercy

won’t give us back that youthful face

So we play each part as we go

thinking back on another joy

To wish we had taken notice

of the child when he was a boy

Very nice write! It is full of wisdom and truth. We all are consciously or unconsciously aware of the clock ticking relentlessly, but your beautiful poem reminds us one more time to use time preciously :)

A good point about everyday life and the long run that is often forgotten.
However once aged many spend to much time thinking back to their youth, wishing and regretting. We can not go back and start a new beginning but we can start today and make a new ending. I really loved this write, it makes me think and is the reason why i joined this site. To get advice from those who know more about life than i do. Thankyou for a piece of wisdom.

so true...so true... Your sentiments echo my own...with every day that passes, we sense the rapidity of time passing...I never get that sense that time is standing still anymore...life is like a movie we watch that is so great we wish it would go on and on...but they always end...and so will we...so I have to get off my a*s and be doing...
Very well written

We so do love!
A brilliant poem that touches even the darkest shadows, we should take each day as it comes, if only it was that easy! lol
Lovely work

How true.. wise, gentle, regretful words.. beautiful put together.

Even if we live to be a hundred there's not enough time to count the stars or golden grains of sand on a shoreline ..

Money buys food for the body, what about feeding our spirits?
