Mankind

Mankind

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Faith may be the timeless healer but lost time it cannot replace And all the calls for Gods mercy won’t give us back that youthful face

"

Tate

Thinking we’re the fountain of youth

we spend life as if it’s money

Casting away dreams as we go

never knowing dark from sunny

The first we waste so endlessly

never thinking to stop and rest

Playing until we fall asleep

living life through memories best

Father time always catches us

no matter how swift we can run

Reminding us of mortality

to see we don’t have too much fun

When we finally wake from youth

to find the years so sadly gone

We wish they had been spent better

not worrying about our lawn

Faith may be the timeless healer

but lost time it cannot replace

And all the calls for Gods mercy

won’t give us back that youthful face

So we play each part as we go

thinking back on another joy

To wish we had taken notice

of the child when he was a boy

Your words are true. We allow too many things to block the good we have in a life. I have my Grandchildren now and I try to spend time with them daily. Their happy faces and great energy make me feel young and hopeful in heart. A powerful poem with a good message.

This is nice although, truth be told, I don't want back my youth. That was probably the least happy part of my life. I like the final lines in this though.

So true.. we get caught up in the minutia. And sometimes when we live too much in the present, we exaggerate the importance of those events to ourselves, and each one is "the end of the world" Nice observations, and well put.

Sad but true. It says in the bible to guard how we spend our time. Very meaningful poem. Much wisdom within the lines and beautiful imagery.

How thoughtful and agonizing these words..who could solve this riddle
its like a puzzle ,how could you live your life without wasting it away at the same time
you are thinking of the impossible..maybe if you live in a dream, dream inside a dream
its like laughing at time and life at the same time..but who are you kidding
it like losing yourself in drink so wont feel anything, thats why times i admired
those wasting their life with the bottle,so they dont feel ,not feel even time passing away
but you are just fooling yourself again and again..if you could just like live all your life like a dream
dreams never ends..i always try it at least i feel less pain than the others..and i always laugh,i hope i am not the joke
lovely write..

Aint that the truth. But what can we do? We are who we are ... some are more alive than others. And some are far too alive and ruin the lives of those who can't keep up with them. Balance all at all times. But balance can be boring. Is that why teens love mosh pits? But then there is a sort of balance in a mosh pit too.
