Dear Anxiety

Dear Anxiety

A Poem by Ashley

You know me all to well
as I sit in my silence continuing to dwell.
I stare at the clock
has time stood still?
It feels so late
yet there's still so much to do.
Should I text that person?
They never replied
have I upset them?
Of course not.
They're just forgetful, busy
preoccupied.
I can't keep scrolling through everything.
there's nothing new here too see.
I should get up
I should move
I know I can find something to do.
I can be alone.
I have no problem with that.
It's just this brain of mine
always daydreaming
always thinking
what if?
should I?
can I?
why not?
I will
probably
possibly
maybe.

I should text them again.
Wait a minute
I already did that.
Don't bother them
They will respond
today
tomorrow
the day after that...
