The Summer of the Man-Eater

The Summer of the Man-Eater

A Poem by A. Siemens
"

My first attempt at writing a poem based on a true story instead of feelings and emotions. About the true story of the Jersey Shore Shark Attacks.

"

1916, the year it was found out

That a creature roamed about

A shark that caused death

To the humans with breath

It was a legend, that came true

That caused a horror that grew

It killed four people, stealing their breath

Only one survived that terrible death

Too many saw

Too many fall

Victims of the legends of old

Stories of terror unfold

For years have past

And yet still, the tales held fast

That in 1916, the year it was found out

That a terrible creature roamed about.

I like that its based off of a true story - i dont see much of that here. I enjoyed it. Short and powerful. thanks for sharing.

I thought it was pretty good! Very creative and fun to read. Just one thing... iina couple parts the rhyming sounded forced and it didn't really make sense... so just be careful of spots like that... I mean it is still great it just kinda chops the poem up a bit. Good write!
