My Shadow Leaves Without Me

My Shadow Leaves Without Me

A Poem by Athena Marie
"

An aftermath of sorts...

"
I travel these roads only at night
They look better in the glow of headlights
Tonight my shadow leaves without me

The most beautiful things in my life
Emerged from ugliness and painful fights
Tomorrow the sun will remind me

So many things I still want to do
Do I have the right now that there's you
Tonight the clock's ticking to spite me

Now I live on this side of my door
Sitting still 'til I'm alone no more
Tomorrow your eyes will unite me

This is fantastic. Intriguing, while also dark and unique at the same time. Wonderful wonderful job Athena.

Thanks so much Jaleesa!
I like the road poetry with a happy ending.

The journey is worth the effort when we find a place we are content. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
