I Drank To You Last Night

I Drank To You Last Night

A Poem by Bryan Sanchez
"

I hope I don't just die, but I can't say I wouldn't be ready.

"
In the sum of times,
I hope you know.
So you can see
You're not the only one.
So you can believe
This world is good

Call me down
I'm waiting here.
Counting shooting stars
And bullet holes.

What I can't offer you
Is what you most deserve
A yearning most appropriate
Pangs of silence
The violence is spreading
And the fire is dimming
You're still crying

I'll still be here
I'm waiting again
But for once
I don't want you to come before
I get the chance to leave
A note at your door.

The sun was set
It burned your eyes.
But the moon was all I could see
A darkness for eternity
I just hope you find a light.

And that it doesn't lead you
To where we didn't belong

You know this is good and I look for a day you can see the light, whichever one it be. If the moon is the lesser of the two lights, does it mean it is the lesser?

But alas, I speak in paradoxes and enigma.

You have some serious talent and I can sense a great amount of intellect in you. The flow and structure were dynamic in this piece, and I was entertained.

Great job! :)

I write poetry and screenplays, and hope to one day write a decent novel. Until then, I'll be content to fill up notebooks with ideas that'll never see the light of day, haha. more..
