Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri

A Poem by audacicity

when you suddenly wake up drenched,
unable to explain how you have fallen from your highest peak
and the enveloping darkness of interstellar emptiness is in front of you
turn your gaze towards your beacon, the constant pixel of light
the pale blue dot, your home
listen to your 'hellos from the children of planet earth'
and remember why you left.
look how far you have gone from your mother's hut
celebrate your wins and learn from your mistake
all in all celebrate your messy life
do not stare at home for too long
lest you might be tempted to go back
and become busy dying instead of living
instead place a golden spike in the mud you are stuck
and shift your eyes to the sky above the valley
search for your Alpha Centuari
once you find it do not lose it
instead focus on it
and see all the possible worlds
work  hard to get there
but know that you might never reach it
but meaning is to be found in the voyage
