Valor

Valor

A Poem by St.Jimmy

What is valor?
The noise of a battalion of soldiers
Trampling this doddering earth
Or,
The noise of saluting bullets
Ripping this frightened sky

What is valor?
On the blooded green uniform
Some shining brass stars
Or,
In the name of borders
The exhibition of some unseen bars

What is valor?
The feeling of firing bullets on a bird
Flying in the sky not even saying a word
Or,
The feeling of turning a city into a cemetery
In a second
By the rain of fire of fury

What is valor?
The illusion of becoming a savior one day
By becoming a devourer of people everyday
Or,
In the intention of some unknown heaven
Becoming hell every second

In these gun powder containing grey skies
What is valor?
In the reverberation of grief in valleys
What is valor?

Valor,
Probably a morale,
Probably a dare,
In a deep inside of us

Probably the dare to hold someone's hand
By breaking, the realm of religion
Probably it's the dare to challenge
The reckless noise of bullets, silently
Probably it's the dare to stand unarmed,
In this murderous and moribund world

Valor is,
The dare to save today's world
For the sake of tomorrow

Excellent!
You have covered your topic in a way that those who equate valor with violence only, can not argue.

Valor is Ghandhi, offering non violence to violence, valor is Rosa Parks taking a forbidden seat on a bus, valor is a Mother whose beloved husband is dead and she continues on for her children, a smile on her face and a broken heart, valor is getting up and trying again after you have not suceeded for the third, or fourth time. And, sometime, valor is just getting out of bed in the morning.

You make a strong statement in this poem and the good question is "what is valor?" The imagery is clearly described and allowed me to picture the different scenes in my mind. This is definitely something to think about.

I love the truth in your writing it is so free and not weighted down with pointless rhymes or anything. I absolutely love it!

Like Kit kat said, this is indeed very powerful. I love the contrasty lines, for e.g. with the heaven and hell. Really dramatic writing. Well done.

lovely write Aaradhya! You hv expressed a wonderful message in this poem and in a brilliant manner... The words are also very impressive and so is the style...
I found this the best:
Valor is,
The dare to save today's world
For the sake of tomorrow
