. it will be, monsieur ... tomorrow is always better ... and the important thing is to realize the gap between what we thought about where we're at and where we're at ... after all, our only job in life is to gain expertise in "gap detection" and "gap assessment" ... that's how we evolve and grow ... or, so i think :) ... after reading this absolutely brilliant piece of writing ... if i were to make a similar observation, it would take me at least three million words :P ... you are a brevity champion and you get better every day :) ...

Amen, John. To wake up a better person is a grand thing, and indicates we've moved forward on the road of life.

Oh, Bravo! There is always room to improve and these few words say that so well! Love this!

Ans so on dies ad infinitum, but always improving, although the clever use of the word 'maybe' shows a man that knows human frailty, chance and choice can take us the dreaded two steps back.
Excellent insight and deep stuff put out in a few well-chosen words. Excellent.

Reminds me of the line from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, 'Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, but never jam today.' which like your poem also plays with the notion of linear time. I like the line breaks, undercutting the various assertions which the poem wants to question.

Fifteen words and a lifetime of thought .. you so often fill the spaces between wondering where and discovering, this is no exception, John. There's also a cleverness here of form, plus, an insight into how and . Thank you for sharing
