The day I realized

The day I realized

A Poem by Katie Lynn

That night, with tears in my eyes,
we looked at each other in silence.
One of the four had no clue
That you and I were now together.
When she left, I walked up to you
I held you in my arms in silence
he walked away; we fumbled through a kiss
You gently asked me in a shaky voice
if we were finally together
I couldn't even get out the word yes
Then it was time to say goodbye for now
We stood out in the street
Next to my old Mustang in the dark
and we kissed goodbye as we heard
his laughter from the other side
We each took one hand from the embrace
and we did what modern kids do
We raised a single finger in protest
and stood together in passions victory
That's when I knew we would be perfect,
But, the day I realized that we weren't
was the day you didn't fight for me...
