Just a dream

Just a dream

A Poem by Katie Lynn

I looked into his eyes right now.
We’ve been here so long, but how
He held me so close, his head did bow
To it’s final resting place, the soft of my shoulder
As if it was meant to be his heavy head’s holder
As the sun has set, still it grows colder
But in our loving dance, we didn’t skip a beat
Dancing, but I can’t feel the ground with my feet
All I can sense is a beautiful sweet heat
Pressing past perfect innocence with him
The stars light his face, but still it’s dim.
I'm taking a chance, going out on a limb.
I feel his fingers wrapped around my hand,
I feel his palm on my waist where it did land
I feel him shaking as together we closely stand
I feel every moment, hear every unspoken word
It’s all in my mind, all silence is heard
Why, why must love be so very absurd?
Who came up with love, and what’s it all about?
How can I believe in love when all I know is doubt?
Maybe I can learn if he’ll just help me out.
He looks at me, but does he understand?
I guess I’ll have to trust him and hold his hand
I guess I’ll have to see where each tear will land.
And dance while I still have his heart,
And hope there is no ending to this timeless start
Maybe all of this will end, maybe we’ll never part
But looking in his eyes, seeing a loving gleam.
One kiss, One love, one chance to redeem
I wake only to realize- our love is just a dream.
