The Donau River

Just too many feels today

I sit on the sandy grass

Remaining still as the world around travels by fast

Thoughts of home had given me shivers

As I watch slow beat of the Donau River

The Donau River is unlike the Cuyahoga River

The Donau is peaceful and romantic

The Cuyahoga is powerful and frantic

Yet they are both life givers

A naked boy runs by being chased by his brother

While not being attended to by a sunbathing mother

Its a curious thing to observe the openness of the Viennese

Especially under the shelter of the trees

Young couples being able to focus only on each other

And to have the observing world around them not bother

It’s beautiful to see love blossom in such a way

During the course of this beautiful day

I have recently left my boyfriend

Seeing the love in front of me and to now have mine end

It is in a way mind numbing

Not knowing when those feelings of loss will succumb 

It could be by this river

With the memories that make me shiver

Maybe I should just cast them off

Let the memories drain from my mental trough

To send them off to the Black Sea

Just to keep the pain away from me

Let the river cleanse my being

Just to let this pain not be the only thing I am seeing

Currently living in Vienna, Austria, I have had many opportunities for inspiration, and lately just a lot of drama as well across the ocean.
