Tattered

Poem

beneath a tattered jacket

lies a tattered soul

who hoped his tattered life

would somehow become whole

it doesn't keep the cold out

or keep the warmth within

it doesn't keep him dry

or cover all his sins

but this tattered jacket

is just an earthly thing

he'll trade it in tomorrow

for a brand new set of wings
