Artesian Moon

Artesian Moon

A Poem by barleygirl
"

uplifting weekend on tap . . .

"

Easter . . . that’s when Christians
join the pious of varying hues to
rejoice the resurrection of Jesus
on a specified springtime Sunday
after a full moon sweep of stars
nips the heels of a vernal equinox.

Lately the sluggish thaw of spring
has been truant despite the equinox
on a slow fade in the rearview mirror
as Grandmother Moon prepares for
her second “blue moon” gig of the year
poised to kick off our spring renewal.

Finally our celebration comes together
and we’re keen to praise the source!

Resurrection rouses a fresh flow
like an artesian well set to splash
our spirits with an aspirational sip
meanwhile lunar cycles harken
as to how life’s merry-go-rounds
might be boarded or dismounted
with the promise of restored orbit.

Embracing this Easter season
we replenish our buoyant voyage
to the drumbeat of possibilities
our souls resounding with joy.

Hi Margie! This is a different style of writing for you, contemplative, analytical and very spiritual. You beautifully join the theme of nature’s “renewal” at springtime and the expectation of another “ blue moon” rising in the heavens, with the theme of Christ’s “resurrection” into Heaven at Easter. Profound yet gentle, eloquent words with seamlessly connected simile and metaphor use- “an artesian well set to splash our spirits” in celebration of new life. The poem flows and bounds like the living water from this well. I love this poem and your words uplift and inspire me. Another facet of your talent displayed. All facets of you shine so brightly my friend. Wishing you blessings in return ( and chocolate bunnies!!) :)))))). Xo (You)

I always almost loathe springtime from a writing perspective because there are too many writes all at once about blue sky, flowers and birds. Not that I don't like reading about such things, just not the avalanche that comes all at once. This however is a good reason to keep writing about spring. As much of a lesson as it is poetry entwined with celebration. It hints at religious theme, nature and science as well as the pain in the a*s waiting for a late spring to come. Kudos on a wonderful poem about spring. Great job!!

Just getting to this one Bgirl. This is brilliantly done, and proof that every poem doesn't have to rhyme to be great. You did a good job on bringing out the spring season and the celebration of Easter. Spring is a time of rebirth in more ways than one and your writing brings that idea to the forefront.

A good write.

So much revolves around the moon, it is mystic and I really wish man had not been there.

But yes, Spring is a time for celebration, new life brings new hope and aspiration. I love Autumn best of all but Spring, I must admit is so refreshing with its bright days .

What! You mean to tell me this isn't when all the evil bunnies make us eat chocolate for breakfast lunch and dinner, while giving us a long weekend off work so we have more time to buy their chocolate? :)

Ps... Evil bunnies rule the world...Fact :)
