Someday You'll Say

Someday You'll Say

A Poem by barleygirl
"

for all the broken people, feeling that life has let them down . . .

"

A few times a day my heart cracks wide open
reading woeful poems devoid of any hoping
how could there be so many that are broken
from an age-old curse that was once unspoken.

Too often I reply: I climbed that peak
the whole time feeling so utterly weak
it may sound impossible to you right now
but a ray of sun will someday show you how.

It’s not possible for you to spill such pain
and not foster the force of a hurricane
a seed of power is planted down deep
someday sprouting from sprinkles you weep.

It often feels as if life dumps more and more
until a final straw makes you stand up and roar
newfound strong expression might be snubbed
people got used to all our lives being unplugged.

Just like the first time we grab hold of the wheel
our route goes curvy and the tires may squeal
stepping into our own skin and getting comfy
can take years when our feelings feel bumpy.

Finally I healed and also someday you’ll say:
my broken bits enhance my internal bouquet!

Great understanding and advice. You de see a lot of people on sites like this trying to express the pain. More than you would like to see for sure. Encouragement, understanding and someone to talk to help sometimes, but not all the time. Great societal comment and understanding of a huge problem, not just the depression but the stigma it creates and makes people avoid it , glad you don't.

I think I read this piece last month or so and that was when I decided to really try writing limericks so you were/are definitely the inspiration. ;)
I agree, often enough, it feels life does nothing but let us down but eventually we get over the troubles and the sad thing is we never realize we got over the last trouble we had because at that time another one is looking at us full in the face. And so the cycle continues. ..
This is great advice from someone (you) who's faced it all and still standing tall. I think a balance is what we need.
Great piece, BG!

I clicked my fingers twice when I read this bit. Like when you do when you hear profound words being recited LIVE. I wish someday I could hear you do the same at a big stage maybe. I am saving this poem in my library, loved it to bits.

This piece is so beautiful. Truth in every word, and gives hope to those who think there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You have been one of the very few poet's who inspire me to keep writing. My true ADMIRATION to you sweetheart!! And happy writing!

Know that feeling, Margie.
Swear to god that woman wasn't a lesbian.
Okay, it was a lesbian bar. But her eyes said straight.
The bloody pain I went through that night.
Really should write a poem about it.
Though maybe I should try again.

You almost brought my tears dear Margie, there is so much to say behind Your lines, but You kept it simple, general without going into the details of Your own unbearable pain You've faced in Your years and came out from it a most beautiful strong soul can ever be, I read some of Your that pain in Your pieces before, and the only thing I think of, know and feel, how much You are of a great person, a great person who many try, aim to be, but what they might not accept that it is NEVER easy, it was only within Your hands and inner as it is within their hands and inners.

to reach out to those, to experience these awful memories again as You wrote down Your words, that's kindness, that is generosity, in a most deep and touching way.

Bless You, our Margie, for You are such a real beautiful human being.

Hugs and lots of LOVE***

Most of us have been to hell and back, through those tight clutches and released, seen it all yet its never done, embraced all seasons regardless, some of us are strong enough to pick the pieces and paint a better picture of experience while others try but not enough to regain composure and reclaim their glory. It's hard, so hard, its heartbreaking at times, soulful and all but a poem like this can click someone's mind clockwise for once. Thanks for building courage in your readers barleygirl! Worth another read!

It is easy to share the pain. Describing hope seems to require more work. Guess I have to keep putting in some extra.
