Staggering Staircase

Staggering Staircase

A Poem by barleygirl
"

nothing comes to mind . . .

"

Bustin’ to blather about last night
played me like a prodigy playwright
alibi stitched and smothering airtight
a heart sullied by seeping frostbite.

How did I reach a rambling dip s**t?
snookered by his insistent drill bit
it spilled out like a song I once writ
we plunged despite raw counterfeit.

Lassoed myself a bouncy buckaroo
dervish spinning his wild corkscrew
for a twinkling I felt my ex’s voodoo
didn’t I banish that old bugaboo?

A long cool drink of cactus juice
this gambol’s just begun to cut loose
we’re in so deep there’s no vamoose
mystic winds wind my neck in a noose.

Gleefully all the bristlecones frolic
daring dragonflies crave agave magic
swirling sorceress swabs his joystick
waves so lofty I feel a little seasick.

Time to get some at the gettin’ place
a madcap race is headed for space
my earlier mindset shows not a trace
after a staggering swirl up this staircase.

Your rhyme scheme is excellent...as usual...and the storyline borders on risqué...I like that...as long as you had a good time.
One little thing...and you can write a poem about it if you like...V3 L4...I think hadn't would work better or banish instead of banished...but I guess I'm just being persnickety.

A good one, Bgirl

There are so many high-level lines in this solid piece of writing, and this line stands out for this reader: "dervish spinning his wild corkscrew". Lovely and unique rhymes with song-like metering.

Keep Pushing!

All that we can do is to keep pushing, to keep writing. Looking forward to more ...
I like the words usage in this piece, Margie.
It was awesomely arranged, taking its readers along in an way that would rather want you to read over again.
I like the rhymes with the rhythm.
It's really a good job.

My pleasure... Margie.
I absolutely loved this. You take the reader on a journey, you let us know just enough without saying too much, It is risky and fun! I hope that is how you felt in the moment...! With best wishes, Laura.

The pulse is all in the mind... racing when you pant 🌹
when we meet someone new and feel that excitement, it is great until the next morning when we find out we fell for the same old song and dance...

and were left sitting on the sidelines...going up the staircase alone.
hints of a racy nature, much implied rather than stated...teases us like a good poem should.
