Feeling the Tug

the onset of winter . . .

Any day now . . .
crisp zephyr cajoles
wrestling my resolve
woodsmoke cloaks
my moorings melting
solstice footsteps sing
crackle of frayed shackles
holiday frenzy mainlining
tugs me toward a freebie
fomenting multitudes
blacken my tethers
blast-off beckons
and I fail to find
a reason to resist.

a very pleasantly worded read although the subject is a bit cold. you've somehow managed to very accurately capture the feeling of the dreaded onslaught of winter. flying/heading south with the birds isn't a bad idea. to me, it's more of a hard push than a tug. we had rain turned to snow again yesterday.

This is starting out to be a very dry winter here. We've only had about six drops of rain so far. I would say it's a COLD dry winter, so far, but most people don't think of 40* as being cold, the way we wimpy Californians do! I'm ready to fly away becuz I'm so sick of the political fomenting! This one comes across as a reaction to the wildfires. The long days of stress are finally in the past and a new season beckons. The shackles are indeed frayed and reasons not to celebrate are easily shouted down. Really good imagery in this one. The accompanying illustration matches the words nicely.

Even tho wildfire season was WILD this year (4 million acres, with our previous high about a million) it really didn't last very long. And yes, it's always a relief when clouds can drift over a clear day & we're not praying furiously that there will be no dry lightning. Thanks for your unique take on this! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Just reading this poem makes me chilly lol. I moved back to Ohio to live with my mom for a while and let me say, I do NOT miss the cold weather lol. It was 18 degrees yesterday morning. I've had to break out parkas. For some reason, all I could think of during this poem was winter lol!

I've lived in California all my life, except for a 6-month time when I lived near Dayton, OH. I was supposed to stay a year, on a job contract, but they let me out of the contract when winter came & I could not take that kind of winter!!!! I feel for your cold toes!!! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
