I’m jealous of Norm at age eighty-nine
a hidden UK stash, a fine old wine.
Jersey Dave just blew by seventy-nine still attempts to untangle a storyline.
Dave Brown soon departs seventy-nine
not sportin’ a spatterin’ of Norm’s shine.
In time Jacob pushes off from sixty-nine
his heap of years ain’t been too kind.
Dreading sixty-five come summertime
I’m a decade or two past my prime.
Norm’s smooth mug, a kiss of springtime
still so spry after his decades-long climb!
Norm (https://www.writerscafe.org/Norman223)
doesn’t visit the café very often anymore
due to wobbly hands and well-worn eyes
but gazing at his latest selfie, I’ve decided
to stop doing selfies anymore in my lifetime!
i remember him in the cafe. they say you're only as old as you feel. he looks pretty good, like he's doing okay. we should all be so lucky. attitude is very important so count me out. i'm lucky i've made it this far - almost bought the farm 7 years ago. course the good seem to die young and the curmudgeons live on so it's extra special when a nice, aged person presses on in a double blessing ... :)

How can one not be envious of Norm's ever-youthful face??? And your tribute to him is so well-deserved. So glad to know he is doing well despite surgeries, etc. Love your love for him and the precious friendship you two share. Great couplets to smile me huge and a skillful rhyme to make my day!
This is a delightful poem for many reasons...Age is just a state of mind. Nothing to be feared. With a bit of care and concern from a few good friends, life can be such a lively, happy race to the winning post. I appreciate the underlying humour, affection and thoughts for Norm and our other awesome poets, that I read in your words.

Go Norm, age is just a barrier to climb over. Though naturally one must not climb Everest without the appropriate bus pass. And as you say, Margie, Hugh Hefner, still bringing young girls to dollar contracts.(orgasm). Just makes you want to get old as quick as you can. Okay, the nurse says I'm getting to excited, need to go.

I think I'll take the day off after such an unexpected compliment from my favorite handsome guy! My head might be too big now to fit thru the doorways, but I don't mind staying outdoors since we're back up to 70* in the afternoons. Damn I love living here most of the time! Thank you for pumping my ego full of gas. The dogs will appreciate it (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
Norman is really missed around here...yes, we are all getting to be at the wrong end of the hourglass...
and saw Pete's response...sure glad he is still around...
meant to be...poetically.
we are family...we are.

They're really a cute cantankerous couple! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
I love this...how you aged each one with a quip, (most who I know) but old Norm ( by the way my husband's name in Norm) wins them all; and you Margie, you're just baby; wait til you hit the next decade!!!
Great write and very unique. Hugs, B

Don’t say that Margie, you have to much to give... keep in trucking !!!
Yes, Norm is a treasure to us, and to his family, a whole lot more, I am sure. Although time is wearing on him, he's still doing better than many. (Perhaps most. Certainly better than I) May he be with us forever and a day.

A celebration of age and talent. He might break the record. Better then, write a story about how he did that. Amazing. I like how you celebrate people and many other things. You are selfless and wise. May you break the record too.
