Pigeon Plumb Bob

Pigeon Plumb Bob

A Poem by barleygirl
"

inspired by Patricia Wedel . . .

"

Pigeon Plumb Bob subsists on top
of Soaring Citadel, a mob chop-shop
his dive a swarming squat to flop
where pudgy pigeons go plop-plop.

Drippy droppings don’t prod ole Bob
he’s kin among his passel of squab
communal spreads of dumpster kabob
henpecking stops for a spineless slob.

Good riddance to his previous life
a rabid slew of matrimonial strife
from Shrieking Shrew, his third ex-wife
now plumy patrons fancy his fife.

No timeclocking, no toilet cleaning
no snooty gawkers so demeaning
feisty featheries’ fanciful preening
infuse a zephyr with fresh meaning.

To be fancy-free like all God’s fauna
thundering wings are like marijuana
a putrid bouquet is his belladonna
hidden within his niche of nirvana.

I do believe. We decide our endings. I liked the photo and the story written dear Margie. I liked the escape from bad women and finding a peaceful place to be, with kinder company. Good morning from Michigan and thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

The old man and the sea of pigeons.
And then those coming out of the chop shop, they don't even look like pigeons anymore.
Who makes the license plates for them now?
I am hallucinating....damn good pot.

sounds like old bob has been liberated and has some new friends although i wouldn't want to be the one to do his laundry. very different, real and told with humor with the added ingredient of bearing some truth on matters ... :)

i know what you mean. i used to think that groundhogs were cute 'til they found my garden ... :)
His niche of nirvana....indeed, I often wonder how people end up on the streets on benches full of bird poop and who knows what else. There is one guy in our town who lives on a bus bench and even during this pandemic, he seems to make it through the days and weeks. We often drop off food or clothing for him. He is appreciative, but I wonder how this happened to him....was it an escape from a horrible marriage or did he lose it coming home from war? Impossible to tell, but it does make for good poetry...as you have shown us. Lydi**

happiness is found wherever, even if its in the midst of Pidgeon poop
somehow, even your usual impressive array of activated adjectives perhaps doesn't quite promote the perfect picture of proactive pigeon pooping
But I will say that Pigeon Plumb Bob has attracted quite a mob and again you have done a wonderful job.

You are such a joyful treat to our site! I couldn't help but to smile and dance (though there is a sad story) from the first line to your sweety-te-tey rhythm, I'm not sure what a sweety-te-tey really is, it just came to my mind thinking how sweet You are. in a world of mess what's better than a positive vibe? and surely You do spread a LOT of them ✨ Thank You, Sweet Wild Margie 💞
