final frontier

final frontier

A Poem by Beano

‘This is the final frontier’ said the friend,
as my eyes revolved around ice cubes in my glass.
‘The world, it’s all figured out’.

Unchartered thoughts still drift and plume through the
club, and lose themselves to the night.

But space is bounded by the small corners in this room
I jangle skies and oceans in my pocket, like loose change

'Only minds and bodies left to explore.'

Swathes of faces that stretch from wall to door,
dissolve in a fuzz that pulls me in on myself.

Tis not easy to see space as it melts, sayeth the ice.cubes looking at the swirling thinker. Space has a way of determining what's to be found, guessed at, moved towards or away from. Maybe that cold stare or that slow wait for clarity helps, one way or another. An intriguing poem, gently placed.

Thank you Emma!

Best, Jamie X
This is one of those poems I'm drawn to read again and again, I see something new each time - excellent Jamie!! The mind has a way of seeing things how it wants to, tomorrow can be very different from today.... and on it goes. I don't think we will ever figure it all out. And perhaps we're not meant to - it might spoil things! ;o)

Thanks as ever dearest, Suzy! x
I suppose that the final frontier is one's own mind; after all, can one truly be sure that the rest is not a dream? Only the ice cubes in my glass keep me grounded.

If we can't look out, we must look inward. I'm sure someone else must have said that. I never try to be original myself. You have managed it well.
I liked this poem very much indeed. Well done!
