Seaside Recollections

Seaside Recollections

A Poem by beckyflowa

The sea’s waves were crass. Uncaring, insensitive, nescient.

I thought they cared, but they don’t care. They can pretend to care though. When they usher around you, enclosing you, filling all the space around you, hugging you with warm currents and nurturing your cuts and blisters with little saline kisses.

They were dizzying themselves watching the thunderous sea spit itself onto the shore.

“It definitely did not care now and was not going to pretend. The sea is a violent, merciless void. It can tear one from the bounds of gravity. Completely unearth them and send them spinning to their demise.”

Kind of like people. Waves are like people. Crass.
