ARROW BIRD

I’m hypnotized

With eyes stabbing my mind

Conspiring

To bring down this legacy

Of hypocrisy

All around me

Convoluted thoughts take on the fight

I look above

Transfixed in flight

I gasp at

The falling arrowbird

Illuminating

The jet black sky

With grace

These fools can’t deny

A debate rages

Self importance takes the stand

Still hypnotized

Astounded by this revelry

All around me

Twisted truths

Spring forward

To hide the lies that

People won’t deny

And up above me

I gasp in awe

The falling arrowbird

Illuminating

The jet black sky

With grace

These fools can’t deny

So why don’t you cry out

They won’t hear you

And even if you did cry out

They wouldn’t believe you

but they have to hear my voice

I don’t care

What it costs

And then an almighty crash

Brings silence

To the hall

The jet black sky

Consuming all the world

And up above the arrow bird

Was no more

I could easily see this as a rock song. I had some serious power chords playing in my mind while I read this poem. It was entrancing.
