The missing piece

I wrote this during math because I was realllly bored :)

When someone breaks your heart 

They aren't really breaking it

They are taking a piece away 

That you will never see again 

They can't try to fix it

They take that missing piece 

And give it to someone else 

So that hole in your heart is a reminder

Of the bad things

Of the bad memories 

Of the sad times you spent together 

Of the mistake that you made

But after he's gone you still have his missing piece 

That you keep safe so that he

Remembers all the good things 

All the good memories

All the good times you spent together, planning forever

That good choice he made of loving you

And maybe

Just maybe 

He'll return that broken piece to you
