I See You, Baby

I See You, Baby

A Poem by Sasha
"

I was fooling around with a DSi yesterday and took a picture of my right eye. I was about to delete it when I noticed something interesting... I warn you: this is complete and utter nonsense.

"

It's quite possible

I'm going crazy.

I'm rarely credited as sane.

But this picture in particular

is doing strange things to my brain.

This eye of mine I've photographed,

I'll never understand.

I spy a man and woman, and

it seems they're holding hands.

Who are these two people?
Is that my soulmate and I?

I feel like a loony

that spots Jesus in a fry.

Or on a chip or on a door -

when will these cuckoos perch?
The one place they can't see him

Is inside a freakin' church!

But I digress...

I must profess,

my words are true though ill-expressed.

Expect one thing, expect no less:
I'm honest like the scripture.

Even if I am a mess,

there's people in this picture.

Give a girl some credit -

eyes are "the window to your soul."

Here my soulmate's better spotted

than at the bottom of a bowl.

Of all the places I could say,

my eyes makes sense the most.

Slap me silly when I claim

he's on a piece of toast.

Then nearly break your neck

So you can see my man up close.

Then scream out, "What the heck?!"

and throw a huge party to boast.

Then whisk my prince of wheat to bed,

shouting well above a mutter,

"You give the most amazing head!"

and spread him with my butter.

Then put my freshly buttered lover

inside a picture frame.

A few years later, call my brother

in tears as I complain,

that I loved him like no other,

but we'll never be the same.

The mold spread like a cancer,

and it's really such a shame.
We have three brats together -

they're not used to all this change!

Cinnamon, Toast Jr., and Crunch

were all beautiful kids.

Until I ate them all for lunch,

and realized what I did.

But I digress...

I must profess,

my words are true though ill-expressed.

Expect one thing, expect no less:
I'm honest like the scripture.

Even if I am a mess,

there's people in this picture.

I'm absolutely certain

beyond a shadow of a maybe,

my man and I are flirtin'.

You know I see you, baby!

Author's Note

Sasha
The goal was to freestyle a non-rhyming satirical piece (I didn't realize how many ways this mocks me until this morning) about the pic, which is why it doesn't rhyme or flow well at the start. I had fun with this and may expand the ending at some point.

They're also the people you have been hearing in your head - they are dancing in pagan joy, whipping up a frenzy, before they mind f**k - it's not paranoia, the psyche pixies know what you see, what you think, what makes you perspire - they're the ones who made you say that to the bus driver who can't look you in the eye any more - and they're under my control, nyah ha ha HA HA ARRGHH....

But that's just my opinion of course.

Hahaha, this was a definite treasure. I felt like I was getting to watch a montage of desperation induced delirium. We've all been there, waiting for our soul's match to finally arrive. This was well done, I'm looking forward to reading more.

I have to admit, I chuckled a little as I was reading this. I enjoyed it. Plus the idea of seeing your soulmate in a picture of your own eye? I think a romance novelist would love to play with that concept. :)

Haha got kinda lost- but that's cool! It's fun not knowing where things go and where you wind up.

I, for one, prefer prose. It's less limiting. I'll admit that I've been known to rhyme every now and then, just for fun. But, the freedom in prose is so beautiful to me. And I really enjoyed this piece. I believe in soul mates, and supernatural forces we have yet to begin to understand. And who's to say that isn't you and your soul mate in that picture? One can never know. And that's the beauty of it all. My favorite lines:

Give a girl some credit -

eyes are "the window to your soul."

Here my soulmate's better spotted

than at the bottom of a bowl.
