Evening Melody

Evening Melody

A Poem by Ben F

Wake me up when the sun sets,
The night is ours.

Dancing moons and laughing stars
Are our friends
and the owls sing the songs
of our youth,

The bitter melancholy of past
transgressions
And the sweet melody of the
present warmth.

Fill me with life and suck it dry
With your quiet trance
Only for the wind to yawn
And grin like we first did.

The night sways our bodies
As we fill our hearts with all we can handle,
The Dew point of our affection,
The climax in the moonlight,
The breath of the breeze.

Tell me now more than ever
That the moon will stay lit
When the birds begin to chirp
And the clouds gather
For a space in our minds
All too full of each other.
