Half the Cup

Half the Cup

A Poem by LE Berry
"

A take on the old saying of outlook and perspective.

"

Thirst quenched, drink again

what is filled to brim.

Without need, sips taken.

That cup half full

overflowing with certainty.

Never knowing life's want

all remains untasted.

Reach halfway, beyond that

until a space is met.

Thoughts arise, expanding

understanding what is empty.

I am a big believer that we have no idea what "half full" and "half empty" mean, since such definitions are relative to the size of the cup, which is often unknown or variable. Your poem feels like I'm getting tangled up and this serves to unwrap us (I guess) from whatever unfounded relativities we might be clinging to! *wink! wink!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
