Small but not forgotten

Small but not forgotten

A Poem by Jupiter
"

This is why I try not to read the news. It affects me too much.

"

Does no one hear the children cry?
We see them on the streets each day
and just pass them by.

Why?
Why does no one hear the children cry?

Is it a failed system,
a broken home?
Was no one there to be reached
on the telephone?
A call to anyone could have saved a life,
instead of twisting in the already buried knife.

I hear them cry
and it hurts my heart.
All I have to do is open a paper
and I fall apart.
They take beatings and lashings
that would make a grown man cry.
They go without food for days,
nights,
weeks
at a time.
And I ask why?
Does no one hear the children cry?

A father killed his baby girl
to break her mother’s world.
A mother killed her baby boy
because her life unfurled.

Wasn’t anyone there?
Why are our babies dying?
Am I the only one
that hear the children crying?

Very nicely written, Great job expressing your feelings. I don't understand how a human being is capable of doing these terrible things to another human being..or even to an animal. I often wonder why some people can kill without feeling a thing while others can't harm a fly.

This is the most beautiful plea for the world to take notice that I have ever read. It brought tears to my eyes. I could see these babies being hurt, exploited and left to suffer by strangers or parents that have no natural affection. Well done, no brilliantly done.

We all hear - and we cry along with them. A poignant write.

You are not the only one. I hear them too. A mother just left her babies (3 of them under 5) home alone so she could see a man. It was broadcast on my news channel. There was a house fire. I don't have to say more. Horrifying, Jupiter. Angi~

I hear them and see them and am driven to madness because I can't save them all. Your work is as always hauntingly beautiful.

Great write indeed.

Beautifully written! This brings out emotion in your viewers, if they were somehow deaf to these horrible truths you made them hear.

Jupiter,
The repeating lines help the reader to understand the distress of the message you are trying to convey. It is the tension of the piece.
Very good work, keep writing.
