New Paths Not New People

New Paths Not New People

A Poem by bibin Sebastian
"

an encounter with my own ideology

"

Introduced himself as ideology

he passed a Convincing smile

I offered a hand and a place in heart

We joined hands and sung our anthem

He steadied my head and pointed the finger

We started journey together

Hills rivers and and planes passed

Our hands melted and became one

He defended me in life

And I defended him too

I was grown up by him

and he had grown in me

Then the narrow path arrived

The passage where only one can travel

We carried each other on shoulder

Even narrow paths couldn't stop us

Here ends the journey now

Where all the travellers met each other

They have gathered gold and rubies

Where my hands were engaged with ideology.

New journey begins again

Where we took a different path

Hoping to meet with no more travellers

And to keep alive our enthusiastic smile.

This is an unusual message that can be interpreted in more than one way. When I read it according to your literal explanation of this journey with your ideology, that seemed similar to describing a walk with God, but not defining it in a theological way necessarily. Another way to think of this (for me) is that I have gained the most clarity in my life when I wasn't sharing my journey with someone else (or worse yet, with many making background noise in my process). Just me & my observations on life . . . those were the best times & still are. The narrow parts are when I had to rely on myself mostly, even tho I never lost sight of my life lessons, etc. I like that this poem is open-ended & can summon whatever type of ideology the reader brings to the reading. But I also found myself curious for at least a few glimpses of what this "theology" looks like in your narrator's experience.

Thank you Bibin again for sharing such a brilliant poem. I enjoyed travelling the new paths your poem took me and it did keep alive my enthusiastic smile!

Your poem is soothing- radiating hopes even after taking different paths.

Keep on writing more.

Sooo, I do not really like the last stanza because I do not understand it. Ideology would want to meet other travelers I would think because ideology has to be believed in and thought about to be kept alive, no?

Otherwise, I really liked how open this was. Ideology often grows up with us. Our political, moral, and philosphical ideas are gathered from experiences around us until we either keep them or let them go do to maturity or some other convincing force.

Awesome job, I would say. My only suggestion would be that you had explored the different types of ideologies and developed them also as characters.

Thought provoking write.

Thanks for sharing!

Strong, hopeful and interesting journey in your words. I do believe. The world is getting smaller and one day. All people must work together and be one in hope and have many journeys. Thank you Bibin for sharing the excellent poetry.
