Last Laugh

A Poem by bigfootprint
"

You're just another cowboy to me

"

(To the tune of "All My Exes")
She said:
You left me all alone in Amarillo.
You said you'd be back someday.
But you  been gone for so long now
I've got a new life,
And your face is startin' to fade.
She said:
I hope you found whatever you wanted.
As for me, I discovered a new day.
All those mean things you'd tried
To make me believe,
I shook off and learned how to say
"Take me or leave me, just don't bore me.
And don't think you're better than me.
'Cause no matter your lifestyle
Nor the icon on your shirt,
You're just another cowboy to me."
Weren't long after you left me crying,
Things started to look better all around.
And soon, I went back
To school for a time
And I've made a new life in this town.
"So you just stay wherever you ran to.
I hope you're being all that you can.
You just keep on riding those old bulls
And take it like a man,
I have a new house, car, and tan."
"And you're just another cowboy to me."

Every broken heart has a story to tell, and cowboys remember lots of drama. Some leave a lady lonely stranded after most every rodeo.

Good on her for knowing her worth and leaving! It doesn't matter his status; if he's not a good man, he's not worth your time. Fun read.
