Portal of Service

Portal of Service

A Poem by bigfootprint
"

Soon we witness our good works redeemed

"
Wisdom of age is but gift to serve man,
As portal of service to greater good,
We each fit blindly into heaven's plan,
Driven to help spread joy as angels would.

Then we know our place in the mortal scheme,
Where we can see pain or adversity,
To respond with charity and mercy.
Soon we witness our good works redeemed.

Good friends regale me in levity loud,
No family to stroke my hand and brow.
Dear ones gone, tested or unavowed,
Array in images soft as airy clouds.

I will visit them soon, assured by faith.
Gifting my best to God, the rest to dust.
Soon I erase life's lines from my face,
To dwell forever in God's love and trust.

I look sometimes at my failure at empire building. But, then I remember the best of empires is waiting up ahead.

an intriguing title says i! not the attitude of a materialist for sure ;) the theme is strong and full of wisdom says i! the weave of God throughout is uplifting for me ... the rhythm seems all over the place tho ;( for instance V1 L4 .. "...help spread joy..." are all hard syllables .... i would love to see this in true sonnet form ...or "hymn" form ... i think it would blast your message through the most solid of walls :) rhyming works .. strong strong strong theme and wisdom to live by .. nice job sir!

Whereas I believe everyone is free to choose to worship the god/s of their choosing I still wonder at the need many humans have to believe in something other than mankind, themselves and their actions. Hawking and Darwin see no god and my only faith is we will discover much across the universe much as we did across the oceans. But it will not be related to gods. In this well written piece you tell of faith and its good and that in time we all head through that portal, cept there are no angels waiting.

Thank you, Amanda. Kindness from a caring heart are worth more to the suffering than gold.
