Waiting All Alone

Waiting All Alone

A Poem by bigfootprint
"

So I sit here a-wonderin' if you're already gone.

"
(Inspired by "Waiting for a Train")

Too many times you're busy, Your family storm got worse
You said you itch to see me. Is that itch now a curse?
When I call you to say hello, somebody drops the phone
So I sit here  a-wonderin' if  you're already gone.
Someday I might get tired of waiting all alone.

But I'll just keep on waitin' cause I know it could be worse.
I do love the way  you  croon my favorite country verse

You got me singing a sad song, a long flat sorrowful tone.
I bet there is a girl somewhere who'd throw this dog a bone.
I could go back to Texas, I know some girls down there.
I spent some time in Fort Worth --  cowgirls everywhere.
Somewhere a girl might be lookin' to take some cowboy home.
One said she could teach me just how to ride her horse.

But I'll just keep on waitin' for you, I know it could be worse.
And I sure love the way you  croon my favorite country verse.

Author's Note

bigfootprint
What with all this house arrest, waiting for the COVID19 nightmare to end, I look for fun things to do at home alone. I am giving the guitar a go. I wrote this one about how too much time alone can drive a guy to distraction.

Waiting, waiting waiting!! Are sure you want to do that?? Maybe going back to Texas would be a better choice, but oh that country tune, that you love so much and reminds you of that special love. Well written and flows perfectly!

I do love a country song -- simple but poignant. Even ordinary melancholy becomes memorable if shown.. read more
