Beltane Moon

Beltane Moon

A Poem by bill angell

A strange visitor wanders through Beltane gathering on a remote ranch in west Texas.

Beltane Moon

‘Twas a festive gathering of Pagan Folk

the air was filled with ritual, music and joke.

People strolled about in all stages of dress,

elegant robes, casual apparel, partial to total nakedness.

And yet midst this extravagant convention,

the young man drew absolute attention

as he made his way, merrily through the camp.

Men stared in awe, ladies eyes were moist and damp.

None can agree on just how he was clad,

but all attest that he was an elegantly attired lad

with exquisite manners and charm,

every woman visualized walking at his arm.

Many followed his path through the people and the tents,

some whispering, others making loud comments,

but that he was the center of attention, he seemed not to care.

He led us through the camp, then turned with a bow and was no longer there.

I am sure it is needless to say

that the mystery lad was the topic of the day,

men fretted or spoke in awe, ladies sighed and swooned,

and that night we all danced Faery Dances ‘neath the bright Beltane Moon.
