A Story by jmae

the evening progressed and I was already a little drunk but then again, so were you, and we were tucked tightly into our jackets as the colorless sky burned out above us. We sat facing one another on the swing hidden in the greenery and my gaze was fixed on my feet dragging lazily against the brush beneath. When I looked up, my eyes met yours, calm and freckled, and the corners of your mouth began to turn upward so slightly it hardly registered.
"I'm going to marry you, you know." you said.
and I replied, without hesitation, "I know."
I don't remember what color my hair was and I don't know what month we were in
but I remember the way the corners of your lids crinkle when you smile
and I know how you cry
how you sleep
the way your lips felt on my skin
and honest to god, at that moment.. I meant it.

hmm. Nice.
I think the first paragraph is particularly solid.
Thanks for sharing, jmae
