I'm with You, Stride for Stride

I'm with You, Stride for Stride

A Poem by Brenda Sue

"Bless me, Lord, with patience;
but I need it right away.
I'll wait for You to help me,
even if it takes all day.

"I want my silver lining NOW,
but You can keep the cloud.
If You gave me everything I want,
I know I'd make You proud.

"My life has painful places, Lord-
there must be some mistake.
I'm nice to people; go to church;
don't I deserve a break?

"Why must it be so difficult
to live a Christian life?
Shouldn't all the nasty people
get their share of strife?"

Even I can't whine forever.
I must pause, I have no choice.
If I listen in the silence
I can hear a still, small voice.

"My child, I'll never give you more
than what your faith can bear.
If you need patience, look within-
I've given you your share.

"No Father likes to see His children
struggle with despair
That's why I listen when you pray.
Just speak, and I'll be there.

You will have pain, a little while.
It's the only way to grow.
Your faith has strength to bring you through.
I thought I told you so.

"Good people have the faith to stand,
a strength that others lack.
If I tested those whose faith is weak,
they might not make it back.

"The race goes on. You're not alone.
I'm with you, stride for stride.
And those who can't run any more
are resting at My side."

What a stunning, lovely write. Such beauty and Faith is so nice to see and read. This reminds me of the story of the one set of footprints and actually the person was being carried rather than walking alone. Wonderful expression. Thank you so much for sharing.

brenda, i love the way you summoned urgency in the opening sentence, how your words progress toward the urgency of confliction, being delivered from adversity by the hands of faith, there is a beautiful messege here, surrendered from the heart, endearing one can see the passion in the form, as well as feel the eloquence accentuating encouragement as you define what it means to overcome, Beautiful.

I completely agree... we are never given more than we can handle. I take my son as an example, me always on the brink of strangling him and ramming my head in the wall.. I thank the lord I didn't have twins! lol. (really I love my lil' one and he's a good boy). A great spiritual piece. Well done.
