Ubuntu

A Poem by Nayan
"

Song of hope and belief against the darkness of hopelessness and disbelief. Single twine that reignites the passion to move on against the backdrop of falling mankind. Which calls for humanity!

"

“Ubuntu”

(means humanity and mankind)

He runs and He runs…

Devoid of the light of the Sun

With darkened sight and tearful eyes…

He runs to see his life’s daylight!

Road to the future, is

Damaged and damned!

He still runs loaded, with -

The Corpse of Mankind!

Glaze of the destined knife -

Blinds the eyes of his life!

It comes to sever the supportive rope -

And so shivers his tethered hope!

When the white turns dark -

Faint little shine, trembles behind the ark!

The veiled visions clack -

The face so familiar turns black!

Alone he stands,

Alone he runs…

But longs for the resurrection -

Of the moons and the suns!

Modelled on goodness,

And moulded with hope,

He looks for that Silver -

In the gold that were sold!

As he runs, and runs -

His heart, with pain, burns!

Calls his belief, do not leave…

What if he turns? - fears and weeps!

With looming disbelief,

He cries to the sky!

And curses for his grief -

To the One who lives so high!

And then, he hears -

The smile of a child!

Who just now, from ants,

Saved, a beautiful butterfly!

He, thus touched, sheds his tears,

Calls Humanity, for a thousand years -

Belief back! In life’s possibilities prime!

He runs, he runs " Through the Sands of Time!

Author's Note

Nayan
This is about some random thought on how we as humans are losing our humanity day by day. Inspite of this, there are people who go on spreading the message of love, hope, and belief. At times, they might also feel dejected and low on self-belief. Then perhaps a single instance of inspiration, like a playing child, or a good deed, spurs up the passion, and they continue on their mission for mankind again.

Poet's interpretations:
------------------------------
(1) He looks for that Silver - In the gold that were sold!
(Sixth stanza) Silver refers to one last hope, that silver lining, amidst all the good people (referred to by 'gold') that fell (referred to by 'were sold') during this dark age!

(2) What if he turns?
(Seventh stanza) 'he' refers to his belief. He fears that his belief might break!

(3) To the One who lives so high!
(Eighth stanza) 'One' refers to the writer of destiny, the supreme power that man believes as 'God'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI :)
Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning 'humanity to others'. It also means 'I am what I am because of who we all are'

The poem open the door to questions. It seem mankind has lost direction. Every part of this world looking to end violence with violence. Sad part is violence only create more hate and more destruction. I have been trying to figure out the thoughts of our leaders for years. Maybe they become cold and far away from the real problems of life. You took me in many directions with this amazing poem.

Violence begets violence , if we can recognise each other then we recognise ourselves. I liked this poem very much

Great job! I very much enjoyed this poem. There is too much violence in the world these days. I like the part where the hopelessness peeks and you show the innocence in the little girl with the butterfly. :) smile. Thank you for sharing!

I often wonder if we will ever get through our infancy? Will we make it to transcendency. So many Davincis are killed in each war .It has to make us wonder how far along we might be if w had ever learned to get along. We may never get to enlightenment.I think our only chance is to let go infancy let go religeon and hopefully with that gone and our science enhanced we will live long enough to care for another
