I Gave Myself PeaceA Poem by BelleA voice from the dark yells out: ‘Serve yourself justice!’ But to respond like his way Is, the same way, murdering my own
self; God did not make me to make my own
death, either to make the death of others. A voice from the dark whispers: ‘Give yourself peace. The bruises encompass my
understanding. The unseen wounds -- they encompass my entirety. None can ever comfort me except silence, But to be sheltered by silence, to
remain in pain is not peace. Peace, I realize, is absence of violence in the middle of conflict. So, I am giving myself peace the justice I
deserve.
