Shared Joy

A Poem by BlakeL79
"

As you read this, I do not know if I have made it clear how I write, where I am inspired, and how the process works for me. What I must say is this - I do not write about other people or poems for others. Too much can get misinterpreted to even attempt su

"

Today I saw a glimpse of tomorrow.
As I gazed into those reflective eyes,
I was pleased by what stared back at me.

My patience tested as I knew I held
all that I wanted within my unwavered arms.

Today I connected again with another,
and the connection had not changed from before.

Although it flows and ebbs and trickles and torrents,
there is joy in this place, in the now, for this moment.

I do not know or do not care,
that we may not be good six months from now.
We know that we fit together,
if only but for a while.

The give, the take,
the sharing of ourselves,
random thoughts large as life,
shall reveal themselves.

A look, a glance,
a stolen kiss or five
We make the effort to bridge the gap,
to remind us why we're alive.

Peel back the layers,
reveal more each day,
this began so close to us,
the ending we cannot say.

How can the feelings be so right,
when it should be so forbidden?
The forces are too powerful,
the passions come unbidden.

When one another meet,
only few layers connect.
To find so many with but one,
stops us to reflect.

It's not the touch,
it's the feel.
Of one next to you.

A word, a hand, to hold and cherish,
as mutual souls are caressed.

And if we parted tomorrow, I would be quite sad,
my heart would be feel so weighty.

It might even leap but through my chest
and wonder - "what the hell was wrong with me?"

Looking back in the years, I remember how I would worry how relationships would turn out. In this poem, you aren't worrying about tomorrow which shows strength and wisdom. A forbidden love that holds so much beauty!
