Waiting for Erosion

Waiting for Erosion

A Poem by SoulExchanger
"

Hypnotized, you leave footsteps imprinted in wet sand. It is only when your name rings that you wake up, stumbling back to shore -dryness replaced and heart already gone.

"

The lingering rays of the sun had already disappeared,
lack of light has taken away one of your senses,
but you rely on the ocean waves
and sand hidden with coral and stones
to navigate your way through.

In the distance you hear voices
too cheerful for you to be comfortable
but not enough to lift you up.
So you stay by the shore
where it's safe;
the intervals between the tides
makes you wonder what it'd be like -
to be carried away like
and eroded until there's nothing left.

Hypnotized, you leave footsteps imprinted in wet sand
not noticing when it is washed away.
It is only when your name rings
that you wake up, stumbling back to shore
dryness replaced and heart already gone.

That's so sad! I really like this poem though. I'm not really sure if I interpreted it correctly(I'm not a very deep person) but to me, the poem was about growing up. I'm kinda new to the whole poetry thing T-T
